Well looks like there is an end to these past two years. So with the craziness of the past couple of days, I will be stopping by to visit Rita on our way down from Inverness on Tuesday. Don’t worry I have people’s contact stuff.
So to be honest I have a lot to say about the past two years but I don’t think I could put it all in an email. I think of a few things when I reflect back on the mission. I have been able to understand how the Holy Ghost works and what his role is. He is the teacher and when we speak or learn about the gospel it is the Holy Ghost teaching us that we are learning is of God. One of the great truths he teaches is taught in Romans 8:16-17 “The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God: And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.” we are all children of Heavenly Parents that love each and every one of us. In understand who I am to God the order of prayer is more clear and understandable. Prayer comes more naturally and is more of a learning experience when we understand that relationship. In doing so we are better able to a line our will with the will of God. There will still be mistakes made of course but that is what the Atonement was made. I think I have learned more about the meaning of the Atonement in the past two years than ever before. I’m going to use a few scriptures they will explain it better than I could but Mosiah 3:7-10 “And lo, he shall suffer temptations, and pain of body, hunger, thirst, and fatigue, even more than man can suffer, except it be unto death; for behold, blood cometh from every pore, so great shall be his anguish for the wickedness and the abominations of his people. And he shall be called Jesus Christ, the Son of God, the Father of heaven and earth, the Creator of all things from the beginning; and his mother shall be called Mary. And lo, he cometh unto his own, that salvation might come unto the children of men even through faith on his name; and even after all this they shall consider him a man, and say that he hath a devil, and shall scourge him, and shall crucify him. And he shall rise the third day from the dead; and behold, he standeth to judge the world; and behold, all these things are done that a righteous judgment might come upon the children of men.” After learning this for myself I want to cry with the people that king Benjamin was teaching and shout “Yea, we believe all the words which thou hast spoken unto us; and also, we know of their surety and truth, because of the Spirit of the Lord Omnipotent, which has wrought a mighty change in us, or in our hearts, that we have no more disposition to do evil, but to do good continually.”
So out of all the wonderful and crazy experiences, I have had all have been a learning opportunity. So I am excited to apply what I have learned on the mission into my daily life. Scotland is great and I have loved this land for a very long time. So tell everybody I’m on my way and I just can’t wait to be home!
The computer isn’t working with photos so I’ll get that all to you next week.
