I really hate bashing, I hate it when people just come and start off on all this stuff. I was going to walk off, which is what I normally do, but to be honest something did stop me.

June 19, 2017

P-day was pretty fun we got to do a lot, from shopping, to emailing, and to going down to Loch Ness and taking photos. We spent a bit of time at the church because Elder Ryan had to do some studying. We also had a great dinner over at the McKenzie’s. Great family those guys are really nice and make great food! Then when we got back we had a zone conference call and we were all fine but then our phone went all weird and we got dropped from the call. So we had to call our district again and then try to get back into the call, and at the time the Sisters from Elgin were talking to us and we got back into the call during another sisters devotional. So the Elgin Sisters started talking and it got all quiet and awkward. Then someone said something and it got more awkward and we just hear over the phone from some sister “what’s going on?” And Elder Crawley says “I just don’t know”. Elder Ryan and I were just dying and then the rest of the call was normal missionary stuff.

June 20, 2017

District meeting today was pretty alright. Not to exciting, but it was a good meeting. After the meeting we went around to go and see a member named Caroline Black. She hasn’t been to church in a while so we were over there to go and see how she has been doing. She is pretty busy almost all the time with Karate. She just became a black belt as well so that was pretty cool to hear about. She just passed and got the belt the other day. She said that at the start of the judging she was really going at it and giving it her all but then it turns out that was just the warm up. But she did pass so she was really happy about that. We went on just to go and street contact. We talked to a lot of interesting people but not too much success. We ended the night by going up to Invergordon for the Branch Council there. First time meeting the members there. We’ve been so busy down in Inverness that it’s been hard to get up there because of all the appointments we keep getting here. But we’ll be working on going up there more often.

June 21, 2017

We were going to have a lesson this morning but she didn’t show up. So we got strait to talking to people on the street. It was all going well nothing to bad, and we had a pretty good lunch. Went on to do some companion study and then we got a bit into the day and it got interesting. So we were walking around the town and trying to talk to people, and my companion goes to stop someone and says, “Hey what makes you happy?” and this guy just stops and yells “Why this?” as he points to the Book of Mormon in my companions hand. It then just turns into a bash between my companion and this guy. And I really hate bashing, I hate it when people just come and start off on all this stuff. I was going to walk off, which is what I normally do, but to be honest something did stop me. Well as they are arguing I ask him if he has ever read the Book of Mormon and he said parts of it but the answer is no. Well I invited him to meet with us to read the book and he agreed to meet up. I was actually pretty surprised. So we set up a time and a place to meet with him. Then we go on with our finding. We make our way over to the high street again and we are stopping people and trying to talk to people. Then as my companion and I are talking this old man comes up to us. “Hello Elders how are you?” Nice guy and we say a few words then he says, “You’re preaching a false Jesus”… wait what? Then this guy just starts going off about Mormons and the Book Mormon not being very nice language, well I again I asked if he has read the Book before. And he said parts. I then asked him to tell me about it, he could not. So I started to read to him and well he marched off and said we are going to a certain place. After that all these people that we tried to stop were just really mean, and nothing was going our way. But as I was just kind of standing there and not feeling too good, I say Hello to this man walking by and he comes up to me and starts to talk his name is Michel and he is from Saudi Arabia and his English isn’t the best, but from what I did understand he did want to meet and go see the church, because he was just recently baptized into the Catholic faith. So I got his number and he said he was going to come back. Didn’t seem too promising to be honest. So we keep street contacting and then this homeless man comes up to us and he is talking to us and he sits down. So we kneel down with him and he keeps asking us if we can go buy him a tent for him to sleep in. No idea what to say to that because we aren’t supposed to go out and use the mission money we have for anything than besides the things we are told to use it for. So we tried to explain it to him but he wouldn’t have it and got up and left saying stuff about us. So sitting there didn’t feel like being out so we head off and the Michel guy didn’t seem to be coming back. So we start to head off and low and behold I get a call from Michel. Telling me he is ready to meet up. So we meet up with him and head off to the church, and the guy is amazing and just funny. He is a comedian and he likens myself to Mr. Bean. He doesn’t speak English very well like I said before, so we use Google Translate and it works pretty well so far. We sat down and he was trying to figure out who we were and we were trying to explain and we did a pretty good job. We then give him the church website Mormon.org. Which he goes off back home. We’ll be seeing him tomorrow. Well we ended the night in a fun way. With a great Dinner appointment and then we had a scripture study class where one person showed up so not the best result, but it will get there.

June 22, 2017

Today was a day. This morning we were out talking to people along the river and we met this lady named Jennifer Hoffman, I think. She is some famous writer and spiritual leader. Never heard of her but she said that she had like 12 books or something and a lot of people know her. So yeah call to fame today, I think. We had some lunch and then we meet up with the guy from yesterday that we were arguing with named Scott. Scott is from Australia and loves to go camping and also knows his Bible very, very well. The lesson with him went pretty good. We did hit a few bumps where he didn’t agree with us but we were able to have a great conversation with him. We invited him to read the Book of Mormon and he agreed and he was okay with meeting up with us again. So we said tomorrow. He was a pretty cool guy. I hope to stay in contact with him in the near future he knows some really great places to go camping in Scotland. So after Scott we met up with our friend Michel. Google Translate was great. For the rest of the day yesterday he went and just google Mormons and watched tons of videos about Mormons. So he has heard a lot now about Mormons and he had a lot of questions about more than one wife, word of wisdom, and a few other things. It was just funny to be honest the guy is great but he is willing to try Mormons out to see if he likes it. He has gone around to a lot of other faiths because he has been wanting to get away from Islam. So it all went well we have a Book of Mormon in Arabic coming for him to read. So the rest of the night was just spent finding and doing some try byes.

June 23, 2017

Well we’ve been doing a lot of phone calls this morning. We were going through the Invergordon area book to try to find some people to teach because we are going to Invergordon on Saturday. Doing that all the way up to when Scott came around, the guy that knows his Bible. So today we had some fun, we taught him the plan of Salvation, and he didn’t agree with a Pre-Earth life which was interesting but he agreed with everything else. In fact what I found interesting was during the lesson we got to the point where you die and we were asking what happens after death, and he was explaining all this stuff and it made no sense. So I ask “Wait, tell me what is the state of the soul between death and the Resurrection?” and he started to like try to explain this place of rest and he couldn’t do it but he was trying. So I was like okay let’s turn to Alma 40, which answered that and he thought that was really cool, it was pretty interesting. We got into to a little conflict at the end but overcame it because he was just understanding it in a different way but it was pretty cool. Then sadly the rest of the day wasn’t as interesting. We had some meetings and what not but nothing to exciting.

June 24, 2017

Today wasn’t the most exciting but it was still good. We spent almost the whole day in Invergordon doing some try byes. So we were going to see Michel at 6 but then he couldn’t meet. We had the Book of Mormon for him in his language, and we really wanted to get it to him. So we went to him all the way to Muir of Ord. We called him for the address and he kept giving us an address that is in Inverness and it made no sense but we get to him and just outside of his flat is this housing place and that has their main office address on the building and he was giving us that address which was in Inverness. So we sat down with him and gave him the book, we learned a bit of Arabic and taught him a little bit. It was great and we got a ride for him tomorrow to church. Then later we met up with this girl and her friend. She is a former investigator and she is looking for something so hopefully we’ll be able to help her out.

June 25, 2017

Sunday! So church was pretty fun. Michel came and so did Stacey which was great and todays speakers were the Self Reliance Missionaries Elder and Sister Andrus. This lady named Mo also showed up. She had a really sad confusing story that she told me. During the talks she talked to the speakers, so it was pretty awkward. But then the rest of the day went pretty alright.

We then drove out to Elgin to do a baptismal interview with an investigator there. So I was just talking to the sisters while we were waiting for the interview to be done, and it went well and then afterwards we went to the mental Hospital to visit a man named Derik. He called us a few days ago and told us that he hit his head and he is a member and he needs his record and some copies of the Book of Mormon and for someone to come with us. It was crazy. So Brother Cummings from Elgin came with us, and we found him in Ward 4 in the hospital, it was interesting. Then we had a fun dinner appointment and a fireside with the ward and played a fun Book of Mormon trivia game. I won! Then we met up with a guy named Shawn and that was the night.

Today June 26, 2017

Well it sounds like it has been a fun week for everyone back home. The temple is a wonderful place to be and I miss it very much. The members here in Inverness are going to be heading down to the temple soon and I really want to go but sadly can’t for now. But that is great to hear all the wonderful things that has been happening back home. It’s also great to hear about mission call!  They will love their missions one of my friends from USU went to Cali for his mission Spanish speaking I can’t remember where but I know he was dead excited for it. Missions are just great.

So  D&C 88:78 “Teach ye diligently and my grace shall attend you, that you may be instructed more perfectly in theory, in principle, in all things that pertain unto the kingdom of God, that are expedient for you to understand.”  I would say this scripture means a lot to the point of just saying that we should and need to learn as much as we can. Knowledge is power and I’m sure the Lord knows that, so he wants us to have that power. It’s like the story of the Sons of Mosiah. In Alma 17 when Alma runs into them again he finds that they had become great men from much prayer and fasting and also searching the scriptures, because they put it all together they were given power from on high. And the power that they received was used for the perfecting of the people. When they came to the kings of the land they had such a knowledge of the gospel that they were able to teach the kings of this great joy that comes from repentance and they did it so that the kings would understand. If we want to be prepared in life for the hard times that come and the other difficulties that come we should read the scriptures, because the words of Christ will tell you all the things that you need to do. Any question can and will be answered by the Book of Mormon.

So I have yet to get the photo we’ve been all over the place and today we are going to Aberdeen and we will be in Aberdeen until Wed evening or Thurs morning. We are in Invergordon now just for about an hour or so but will be leaving straight to Aberdeen afterward. But the family history center in Invergordon is open on Wed afternoon and evening. So that’s a good time to go around.

Then I follow up on those people! Thank you so much.

I know that when we do service for those around us, we can become who Heavenly Father wants us to be.

June 13, 2017

Today we had a great district meeting. We had the meeting over Skype so that was a first for myself. The other teams are so far away that it takes way to long for them to travel in. So the meeting was great we had a great chat about Christ like attributes. I gave an instruction about patience which was well done in my opinion. Then the rest of the day was pretty alright. After the meeting we were in town mostly finding till we got to meet up with an investigator Bethany. She was really nice but she did kind of leave us clueless of why she was meeting with the missionaries. She did not seem interested in it all. Nothing about it seemed to appeal to her. So we’ll have to pray a lot about that one. Then just after that our investigator from Invergordon came down and took us out to eat at Pizza Hut. He brought his friends kid who was 4. Cute kid it was a lot of fun and we got to talk to him and got to know him a lot better. Then that was pretty much the day.

June 14, 2017

So today was a really fun day. In the morning we were out in the street talking to people, and you always get some interesting people to talk to here. It makes every day a different day. We met with a former investigator Gabby. She has bright pink hair and is President of the student body at her University, so she is quite busy. Then we sat down with a girl that we spoke to yesterday named Emma. Nice girl and we were able to go through the Restoration with her. She just kind of listened so that was pretty nice and we’re hoping to see her again soon. Then the night ended with the YSA BBQ. There was going to be some non-members coming so that’s why we went along to see if we could get a teaching appointment out of it and find some new people. Well the majority of the non-members were from the UVU thing so we talked to a few of them, but they will be heading back home soon. However, Millie and her boyfriend who isn’t a member came along and we are seeing them on Tuesday. Going to go and get to know them better and have a fun talk with them, which will be great, I’m really excited. Millie’s boyfriend is from Argentina so he loves his football.

June 15, 2017

So this morning got up early to head down to Aberdeen. It’s like a 3 hour drive so that wasn’t too exciting, but road trips are fun on a mission and you get to see a lot of Scotland as you drive around which is pretty great. So I got a few photos of the drive. We got to Aberdeen and I went off with Elder Crawley for our exchange. We spent most of the day finding and got to talk to a lot of pretty cool people in the town. We were driving around Aberdeen a bit as well as some try byes. We also got some food from some members. Then dinner was pretty fun, we went to a place called Nandos and it’s like all chicken so we got a lot of food and that was really good. We then went to a meeting and I just kind of sat back and just listened because well it’s not my area. But it was fun to hear about the investigators that they are teaching. That ended the night.

June 16, 2017

So we had the awesome experience of driving all the way back to Inverness! It’s fun driving around but to be honest I do kind of miss the train. The Train is a lot of fun but I’m fine with the car. So the rest of the day was spent finding and talking to people but in the evening we sat down with Stacey and got to talk to her and have a fun discussion with her. We talked about the plan of salvation and we got talking a lot about the Atonement of Jesus Christ and how every wrong can be made right though his Atoning sacrifice for us. All the problems with heart ache, fear, pain, and etc. All of these he has been through. I don’t know how he knows, I can’t tell you how he does, I just know he does it and he can and will heal us. More than anything this shows how much my Father in Heaven loves me. I don’t have to bleed for someone else. So whatever path we are on, we don’t have to walk it alone, none of us do because he has already walked that long thorny road. I love my Savior so much. I just love to share this with people and how they can find the peace along with happiness in their own life through Jesus Christ.

June 17, 2017

So this morning I had some pretty great studies and we went over to Stacey’s to help her with her garden. We were over there helping her weed and what not and it was a lot of fun. We got to have a fun time helping out and we talked about faith as well and what it is and how we obtain it. Then the rest of the day was spent finding and eating food and what not. So nothing to exciting happened today.

June 18, 2017

The Sabbath day! Today my companion gave a talk in church. He talked about looking to Christ. He used the talk from the last general conference, “Don’t look around look up!” Can’t remember the name of the speaker but the talk was just amazing. So Elder Ryan used along with the talk a few other scriptures and some personal stories and I thought it was great! Then the rest of church I was falling asleep, I was tired that I was just like nodding off the whole time, but it was good. Then we went out and did some try byes after church along with some planning for the next week, we got some awesome planning done. So hopefully the next week will be a great week. Always busy.

So it sounds like it has been an interesting week. It is wonderful to hear that Alex is doing service. The funny thing about service is that no matter where we are in life when we do service for others we are greatly affected by it. I can’t remember who the story was by but I do remember there was a story of a women who was diagnosed with cancer and she was talking to her bishop and the bishop (Oh I think it may have been President Eying) But he told her to go and do some service for others and she just could not believe it. Here she is dying from cancer and she is in pain and her bishop is telling her to go and do service for others. Well she ends up doing it, and she said that the first days weren’t too great but that after a few days of doing the service the pain started to go away and that she found more joy in helping others and reaching out to them. I’ll have to find the right story because I know I butchered that one but the point it is, that service is where we find our greatest happiness in life.  Lifting and building others will allow us to become Christ like. I know that when we do service for those around us, we can become who Heavenly Father wants us to be.

My thoughts really this whole past week has been on kindness and loving

June 5, 2017

Hi Elder Augustine, this is Elder Parsons. Thou art the man! Love Elder Possoms.

  1. This is THE COOLEST thing EVAAAAA

P-day this morning we got up and we started the day pretty early and got running around to do all the cleaning and car stuff.

Then the Thurso Elders came along to spend the day with us because we are going on exchanges tomorrow with them. So we went to the library and emailed and that was just crazy. The library will only give you 30 mins to email then after that you have to go back and book another computer and you can do that as many times as you want, but we have to go back and forth. Well after emailing we mostly went around town looking at all the shops and we had lunch at this Chinese buffet place, and that was mostly our P-day. There are more Tartan shops here than anywhere else that I’ve seen. So those were pretty fun to check out. So that was that and then we had a great dinner with the Sutherlands. Afterwards we spent the night finding. I went off with Elder Parsons and as we were walking around this girl stopped us and we got talking to her. Her name is Becky and she told us that she only stopped us because she thought that Elder Parsons was some guy from some boy band and something else about me. But we were able to set up an appointment with her for tomorrow and we’ll see what happens. Then the highlight of the night is watching my companion give a haircut to Elder Parsons.

Elder Ryan giving Elder Parson a haircut

June 6-9, 2017

So the last few days have just flown by. We’ve been out everywhere doing everything we can to find people to teach. We’ve had a lot of lessons the past few days which has been really great. We were able to get a few new investigators as well so that was really cool.

Then today was going to be a busy day but then it didn’t end up being a busy day. We had about 4 appointments planned for today and all seemed really promising and just slowly one by one they all canceled. So kind of sucks but oh well. So we spent most of the day just out finding and talking to people. Ran into some interesting people. Did find a former investigator which was really good. We’ll be hopefully seeing him soon. He might even be coming to church this Sunday which would be great. So just praying for that. Then later this evening we went over to the McKenzie’s and had dinner with them. They are awesome members and it was just great to be around them. The rest of the night just kind of went to weekly planning and talking about the next week and what to do to about those we are seeing. I would love to see them get baptized because they are ready.

June 10, 2017

Today was just all day of finding. Which wasn’t that bad. It was raining off and on. Which kind of sucked but oh well. So in the afternoon we were trying to GQ but nothing was coming from it. There are so many tourist at the moment so it’s hard to find all the locals. They are kind of hiding from us. So we decided to go and GQ along the river. We headed down the river going towards the loch, and there are a few people but not really many. It more turns out to be a nature trail. It was all these small islands in the middle of the river all connected one to another by bridges. It was pretty cool but there was just no one so we did end up turning around and heading back down along the other side of the river. At this point we are now on the side with the church heading back towards to the church. And it’s getting really hot and Elder Ryan had his bigger coat on so he tells me he is going to drop it off in the car, and as we are coming up to the church Elder Ryan says something about this girl walking towards us with Bright Pink hair. So myself in a half joking matter say “well let’s go talk to her” and so we walk past the church and just go straight for this girl and stop her. Her first question is “Are we the Mormons?” and it turns out she is a former investigator that was getting taught by the missionaries for a long time and she loves the missionaries but she lost contact with them. She could name a few of the missionaries that were teaching her. It was pretty cool so we set up a time to meet up with her again. We’ll be hopefully seeing her on Wednesday.

So then the rest of the night went to finding and seeing our other investigator Stacey. There was some things that happened last time between the missionaries and Stacey so that wasn’t good. But we went over there and got to talk to her and she knows that we aren’t the same missionaries so it was good to sit down and more than anything become friends. She gave us dinner as well. So it was really great.

June 11, 2017

So today was Sunday and it was a great Sunday. The talks given were really good. Sister Wilson spoke on kindness. As well as Brother McKenzie he spoke on kindness and courage. Then the last talk that was given was from someone who was from the stake Presidency, He spoke on temples and gave a really great story that I wrote down. Then the rest of the Sunday was mostly spent talking to people. There were a lot of visitors. Almost half the congregation seemed to be visitors. I’m not sure if one sent you the photo of Elder Ryan and me. They served here in the Edinburgh, Scotland Mission almost 30yrs ago so that was really cool. So the day was pretty good. We had to do a bit of studies and what not to get ready for district meeting and try to figure some things out for the next week because this next week should be a crazy week. We’ll be in Aberdeen on Thursday for exchanges with the ZL’s.

So I have seen a lot of Inverness so far. We do cover Invergordon as well so we’ve been up there a few times and the drive through the Isle of Black is amazing. I’ll send another email with my email address in it so. It’s great to hear that Alex is loving the temple so much. I miss it very much. My thoughts really this whole past week has been on kindness and loving, and what we can do to choose that. In fact just the other day I was looking through this book and I found this poem about choices.

You are the person that has to decide

Whether you’ll do it or toss it aside.

You are the person who makes up your mind

Whether you’ll lead or will linger behind.

Whether you’ll try for the goal that’s far

Or just be contented to stay where you are.

Take it or leave it. Here’s something to do!

Just think it over-It’s all up to you!

Nobody here will compel you to rise;

No one will force you to open your eyes;

No one will answer for you yes or no,

Whether to stay there or whether to go;

Life is a game, but it’s you who must say,

Whether as cheat or as sportsman you’ll play.

Fate may betray you, but you settle first

Whether to live to your best or your worst.

So whatever it is you are wanting to be,

Remember, to fashion the choice you are free.

Kindly or selfish, or gentle or strong,

Keeping the right way or taking the wrong,

Careless of honor or guarding your pride,

All these are questions which you must decide.

Yours the selection, whichever you do;

The thing men call characters all up to you.

I love this poem a lot. It is up to us to be kind, gentle and it is up to us to decide what to do when trials come our way. We can love and serve or be selfish and unforgiving. On a mission I would say these are things you learn daily with everyone that you meet.  I have had many days where I have had men and women of other faiths come to me and attempt to prove me wrong. I have had them yell and scream at me. There has been many times where I’ve walked away with feelings of anger and disgust towards that person instead of love and forgiveness. But it’s up to me what I do. I choose to follow my Savior. I am thankful for a wonderful brother that is able to love the temple and express kindness to others, his example is wonderful.

Well I’m glad everything has gone well this week. The games are great I haven’t seen any highland games here in the Highlands yet, but there are bagpipers out every day of the week. In fact the past week there have been two marching bands going around. It was pretty cool to watch them play and I really wanted to join them but couldn’t. When I come home I’ll be playing with the band a lot more.

I haven’t seen the Loch Ness Monster, but I’ve come close!

May 22, 2017

Today was a pretty great day. I went off with Elder Peterson it was his last P-day so this morning we went over to the church to go and email and then we went back to the town center. We went into this one shop and there was this bottle that was a brownie mix. It was cheap and didn’t take long to make at all. So, I was like hey let’s make this. So, we got back to the flat and we cleaned up a bit and then we got to baking. It didn’t take long to get in the oven. And well it didn’t look right going in. And when we pulled it out. It was pretty much a cake or in words of Elder Peterson it was corn bread. So that false advertising. It did taste good and was a lot better with butter. So, after some fun baking we went down to the beach and got some photos. It was a fun time. I really enjoy the being by the ocean a lot mostly because it just a great place to be out on the beach watching all the waves. But these waves here are really cold so don’t really want to go near the water. But it’s still pretty nice. Then later at night we had a fun little Book of Mormon study group and we studied 1 Nephi 5-8 and we had a lot of great discussions from that. For most of the day my thoughts have been about the last two transfers here. And really how much I have learned from just those I’ve been around and what has happened. I would have to say coming up to an end of my first year of my mission I feel like I can almost say that yes, I do know what I’m doing. And there is still a lot I don’t know but I’m thankful for what I have learned. Mom has repeatedly said to me in her emails over the past few weeks of everything that she is grateful for in her own life and how much she loves myself along with Alex and Annukkah. And as well as the guiding I have received from Dad. Being the man that I want to be like. So, these have been things of reflection I would say this past little while. I am grateful that I have been able to be shown my weakness so that I may be able to improve and to grow.

May 23-25, 2017

Well the last few days have been alright really nothing has happened here. We’ve been out finding a lot and the best part about it. Is that it has been hot and sunny. Which has been really nice.

May 26, 2017

So today was a pretty fun day. This morning we got to Arbroath and we spent the time finding and the first person that we spoke to was a really nice lady and she invited us over next week. So that should be a lot of fun we’ll swing around and see if we can teach her and give her something great! We then made our way up pass the college and while we were walking Elder Foster noticed this girl on the other side of the street. I had to fix my shoe but I just hear “I knew it!” and the girl comes over and it was this girl that we’ve run into about twice before. But the last time we ran into her we made a deal with her and that is if she runs into us again she would have to take a Book of Mormon from us and read it and when we get home from our mission we’ll have to watch this movie that she told us about. Well ran into her and we had a great conversation and she took the Book of Mormon and said that she would read it. We then told her if she sees us again that she has sit down with us and talk to us about it. She agreed to that. Well after that we just kind of made our way around Arbroath just trying to talk to people. We had lunch and off we went to go see Beckie. And she was in! So, we were able to sit down with her and we really talked about the importance of the book of Mormon and prayer. We read the first two chapters of 1 Nephi and talked about that. She also said that she would come to church this Sunday! Well after that we went back to finding. And we were finding a lot and as we were walking around we ended up near the harbor and we walked around to the sea walk. There were some waves but nothing really. It was high tide and we were up on this bridge just for about a min or two and then along the wall there was kind of a big wave. I was like oh man if we stay right here we’ll probably get soaked. Then not even a min after I said that this wave hits the wall and the curves over and it was massive and it is just coming down on us. I look up at the wave and honest all I thought was “You’ve got to be kidding me” and this wave just falls on us and just soaks us wet. There were a few people that saw and we all just laughed. So, we go off to go find a good place to try to dry off a bit and we street contact along the way. It was a great time. We stopped on the other side of this building next to harbor and just did our best to dry off. We then went back to the flat to get dry clothes and for dinner. We had some fish and chips. It was really good. There is nothing better than a chippy near the ocean. Cause tomorrow is moves call so we’ll see what happens and who is leaving and who is staying or is we both leave. Always an interesting day. After dinner we were just going around chapping doors and what and there is huge festival going on tomorrow called Mofest. It’s super big here and they start tonight so we heard the music coming from there and the high street is getting closed down for the next two days. It’s going to be crazy.

May 30, 2017

So, the last few days have gone by like nothing else. So as far as I can remember it was moves day yesterday. And Elder Firstbrook and I got up in the morning and went off to Dundee in the morning. Took the bus which took about hour. Elder  Firstbrooks new companion was already there in Dundee so they just got on the next bus and went back to Montrose. I went off with two other Elders and stuck around with them for the day and that was where I got to email for a bit. Sent out emails then we were just waiting for my train. So, we were just waiting around nothing to exciting to say about that. Got on the train it was this really nice train and off to Aberdeen! Got to Aberdeen nice and safe waited for a few mins and then my companion Elder Ryan and a few others came along and picked me up. So we were white washing in along with the Elders up in Thurso. Elder Parson’s and Elder Wood. They came and spent the night in our flat. So they were there and we got up to car with all our stuff and we just couldn’t fit it all in so we had to split some our bags with the zone leaders and go back the next day to go and get it. So that is what happens and we are on the road to Inverness. It was a long drive about a good 2-3 hour drive. We get to flat and well it’s not really the cleanest… More or less it was pretty dang gross. So we started picking up and just throwing tons of stuff away. We all spent the night not getting any sleep.

So, this leads me to today.

So, we all got up and got ready for the day not to bad and we got out and we dropped the other two off at the church so they could email because they were unable to yesterday. And we went back to the flat to start cleaning some more. Took up the whole time we had to go and buy some more cleaning stuff. Well we went back got the other two dropped them off at the train station and then we had to go almost half way back to Aberdeen so we could get our bags. That was a fun drive. So far today has been a lot of cleaning and driving but I’m loving Elder Ryan a lot he is a great guy. So, we go back to this place called Elgin (which has sisters there and they are in our district) so we met up with them and were talking to them when the zone leaders came along with our stuff. So off we were again to Inverness. relaxing car ride. We get back then had to go up to Invergordon because we cover that area as well. There is a flat up there that is closing and we had to go and clean it out and make sure that it has everything out from it. And we get there and it’s a house! This missionary flat is a house. A senior couple use to stay there but then they put the Elders in there. Well we had to go and drop off the keys with the land lady. While there we went to go and check out the church building in Invergordon. The church building is in an old bank. It’s really cool. In the primary room is the massive vault. Well after this we get back to Inverness and we start cleaning the flat again and go out shopping to get food and things for the coming week.

Today was like our real first day in Inverness. We got out this morning to go and GQ the city center. So, we drove down to the church and we parked the car there and we started to walk up the River Ness up to the city and we were GQing along the way. Well everyone on that side of the river is either going to the hospital or is a tourist. That was most of the day really. We met a lot of great people. People here in Inverness are really nice, everyone so far been really friendly. So we GQed pretty much the whole day and later in the evening we went to ward council. The members here are amazing they are just great and it was the best ward council that I’ve been to. Later we met up with our Ward Mission Leader. Nathan is 18 and going to get his mission papers in soon. The guy is a great WML right off the bat he has already helping us get appointments with some of the members and working with them. So that finished up the day.

June 1, 2017

Alright today was another really great day. We got out this morning and this time we crossed a bridge earlier on the River Ness and GQed the other side still some tourist but not as many more local people. But we did decide that when someone doesn’t say anything to us it’s because they don’t speak English. So, while out today we ran into a girl from UVU doing some study abroad over here for the next month or so. We actually ran into the Professors that are in charge of the group yesterday out on the street. They are all members so that was pretty cool to be running into members from the States. So, if they aren’t busy or aren’t doing anything we want to see if any of them (because there are some return missionaries there) want to come out with us and teach some lessons. It’s going to be great. So later in the evening we got to see our investigator Calum. Nathan our WML came along. So, we sat down with him and just kind of did a get to know and talked about a few things. He says he won’t get baptized but he is so ready for it. He is a pretty cool guy, he has been studying accounting at the university and is hoping to go somewhere in there. We’ll be seeing him at church on Sunday and we’ll also see him Thursday. So, after the great lesson with him we and did some try byes with some former investigators and we found this one lady from Poland she invited us back but next week she is on holiday and won’t be back till the week after but we’ll go by then. And that ended the night!

We met one of the world’s strongest men!

So today we got up and it was an easy-going morning and we get out and start street contacting. Met a lot of interesting people this morning. Here in Inverness it’s mostly just tourist in the morning getting out and getting ready for the day. It’s not really till the evening time that the people that do live here start to get out. So, lunch came around and we went down to the church will Sister Williams was cleaning the church and as we were cleaning we forgot to lock the front door behind us and we were in the kitchen and the next thing I know there is this random tourist from Colorado in there. He told us that his wife is just using the bathroom. They weren’t members but it was an awkward conversation. He told us that his daughter was a part of the church and then as he is talking about this his wife comes around and she looks at us with the most confusing look and said, “The UK doesn’t have public bathrooms!” she was very surprised. So, we had a good laugh and finished up lunch. So back out street contacting and we aren’t getting like anything at all. So, as I’m trying to talk to people I hear my companion try to stop some guy and the guy just goes nuts. So, I kind of turn around and step next to my companion. And this man is just yelling that we have no right to do this and he is just sending spit everywhere. We tell him that we hope he has a good day and he hates this. He just goes off how we really don’t hope that he has a good day that it’s all just a lie and that we are faking to be nice to other people. Then he tells us to leave and to stop staring at him. We just turned around and started to talk to other people. Still weren’t getting anyone so we did some companion study and we were just dead but no worries we kept going. The evening was a lot of more successful. Talked to some great people and got some lessons all set up! I meet this really cool guy named Vogta from Poland and as I was talking to him, he was telling me how in his hard times God wasn’t there to help him out it was just himself that did it. So, I started to tell him about agency and how in my own life God hasn’t just appeared and picked me up out of my hard times but as allowed me to make the right choice and to trust him and what his is wanting me to do. Something like that but he really loved it! We got his number and will be meeting with him. Then I was able to chat with an awesome girl named Juile who wants to be a police officer in Texas. Which was pretty dang cool and we should be meeting with her next week. Then shortly after this my companion and I were standing there chatting a little bit and he was telling him how we need to get going to a gym around here. Then out of nowhere we see this man with “The World’s Strongest Man” shirt on and this guy is just massive. The guy was like 3-4 times my size and we stop him! And we ask him if we can come workout with him and he got his email and he totally all for it. You can look this guy up his name is Tom Stoltman. He is only 23 and weights like 363 pounds. So, after that meeting that crazy awesome guy we had some dinner and we went out and did some try byes for the rest of the night.

June 3, 2017

Was just a crazy day of running around and GQing and had some interesting people talk Not too much happened.

June 4, 2017

Church was today and we got to meet more of the ward which was great. There are a lot of awesome members here and I love them all so much. We also had a lot of visitors as well from all the people just on holiday to Scotland as well as the students that here from UVU. So that was pretty cool and then the rest of the day was us doing a lot of planning and studies and more try byes for the rest of the night. Then we ended it with seeing our investigator named Barry. He has a problem with Tithing and just won’t accept it. He will accept everything else but Tithing. So that sucks. but oh well we will do our best to see if we can get him to understand why we pay tithing. Cause it would be great if he could get over it and then he would be ready for baptism. So, then the rest of the day went really well. And now I’m ending the week with some weekly calls and getting ready for bed.

So today,

Well it sounds like a busy week back home and Brodie doesn’t sound to happy but it’s good that he has had a good wash.

I love the pictures from Grandma and around Salt Lake thank you!

The area of Inverness is amazing! I love it here, and I haven’t yet seen the Loch Ness Monster but I’ve been close! Our area is like a 1\4 of all of Scotland. We cover all the way down past Loch Ness, then almost to Elgin, then half way Thurso and all the way to the Isle of Skye.

So yeah whitewashing. We pretty much just travel to a new area the both of us go and find the flat and just get started to work and do our best to figure out the area in the least amount of time so that we can just get going. We’ve already been doing really well which is great. Elder Ryan is a funny guy really likes to stay busy, always something to do with him. He does fit the aqua man shirt which is great. Oh, so the shoes it’s just around the top that has become all lose and aren’t to waterproof anymore. The rest of the shoe is fine. But yeah, it’s been a great a week and I look forward to the next week. Hopefully I’ll get some more inspiring days in to share with everyone.
