So the week has gone by super-fast and it sounds like a very crazy week for everyone at home. I hope everything goes well with Dad, and it was great that you were able to do some service! It is always nice helping others. I always try to offer my help to everyone, but they all turn me down. Oh well can only keep trying.
So last Monday was p-day and you saw all the photos from that.
So Tuesday we had a great district meeting and the zone leaders came. We were able to have some really cool lessons from all of us and I really enjoyed it. We talked about having the faith to see miracles and what to do to improve our own faith, because it doesn’t matter the quantity but the quality of our faith that things start to happen. God works by the faith of man, so pretty cool stuff because we’ve been having a hard time finding people, but when we start finding them, they never hold the appointment which is really annoying, but we are still going!
So the last couple of days has been roughly the same. We ride the bus to our area and it’s a 30min ride then we get to work talking to people and it’s interesting the people that you run into here. So pretty funny people.
We have been teaching two 8 yrs. olds that are super crazy and all over the place but they are going to get baptized and they want to get baptized so that’s pretty cool. So we go over there once a week and teach them and share stuff with them.
So following all that the rest of the day is pretty normal, we’ve been out to eat a lot at some of the bakeries around here and they are really good. They have some really good haggis pies ha-ha. Those are my favorite. So following the end of the day we head back to the flat for dinner and we do studies for the rest of the night, because I’m training my trainee gets an extra hour of study so that is fun. The other night we did a fun scripture chase game with the other Elders and the last person to get to the scripture had to teach everyone else a 1 min lesson from Preach My Gospel and it was pretty fun.
That has really been the week nothing else has been going on.
Then Sunday it was the British mother’s day! So my companion and Elder Peterson’s companion skyped home and that was cool for them. So Happy British Mother’s day! I’ll be calling home in May so that should be fun to see everyone! I’ll tell you more about Scotland because that will be roughly a year-ish for me. Time is flying by!
Well to answer the question of or to add to the phrase “Lean Not To Mine Own Understanding” So Scotland is a perfect example of what not to do for this. Everyone here leans to their own understanding. But basically to everyone else it means to lean to Gods understanding and trust him. We will never know what will happen but he does, so we just have to go with it. I think it goes best with a scripture from D&C 6: 36 “Look unto me in every thought, doubt not, fear not”. It will be hard but it is so simple, we just look to our Father in Heaven and don’t doubt him and fear what will happen but take the step of faith to lean to him. I run into a lot of people here in Scotland where if they would only take a moment and just listen to the wonderful message that we have, they would be able to find what it means to understand the miracles of God. It is hard, but it comes from the moment of giving up to God that we find the most joy. Many people look to the things that they can only understand and they doubt the things that they can’t but Christ said it best in John 20:29 Jesus here speaks to Thomas someone who probably was doubting and only looking to what he saw and felt, but as Christ did show himself to him he did believe and what he says after is even better! “Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed.” Blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed – It is amazing to see the teachings of the Savoir. We are stronger because we see not. I do not need an angel of the Lord to come to me or to see the dead rise to believe that there is a God. I am blessed with the knowledge that I will never doubt or fear what will happen because I know. I know that God has the better understanding and he works in ways that I do not know, but I do know if I trust him and follow him I will always be happy and just like Alma taught his son Helaman in Alma 36:3:
“And now, O my son Helaman, behold, thou art in thy youth, and therefore, I beseech of thee that thou wilt hear my words and learn of me; for I do know that whosoever shall put their trust in God shall be supported in their trials, and their troubles, and their afflictions, and shall be lifted up at the last day.” All things will work out! For our God is a God of love and that he is our Father and he is one that I will look to.
Well I hope that was good for you and look forward to hearing from you!
